The purpose of this grant is to assist homeowners in enhancing the energy efficiency of their homes, to generate employment opportunities for energy advisors in New Brunswick, to promote the growth of green supply chains in the country, and to combat climate change.
New Brunswick is making it easier than ever to increase your home’s energy efficiency. You can enjoy comfort and savings through the efficiency incentives offered by NB Power/SaveEnergyNB. Homeowners can receive grants of up to $3,000 to make energy-efficient retrofits to their primary residence, including solar panel installation. These programs are proudly delivered to all residents of New Brunswick by NB Power/SaveEnergyNB.
Grants may sound like a lot, but the high demand for them means they will be taken quickly, causing scheduling delays for Energy Advisors. We recommend starting your application as soon as possible to avoid any delays.

Eligibility:
- The home receiving the improvement must be your primary residence, shown with a driver’s license, government-issued ID with address, or a utility bill.
- The primary residence must be at least six months old from the date of occupancy by the first homeowner and eligible for an Energy Guide evaluation.
- Proof of ownership must be shown with the property tax bill number.
- Property types include:

- Single and detached houses
- Row housing
- Townhomes
- Mobile homes on a permanent foundation
- Permanently moored floating homes
- Mixed-use buildings
- Small multi-unit residential building (up to three storeys with a footprint of up to 600 square meters)
Homeowners must meet the following requirements:
- Complete a pre- and post-retrofit Energy Guide evaluation by a certified energy advisor.
- Complete at least one retrofit eligible and recommended by their energy advisor in their report. Only homeowners who conduct at least one retrofit will be reimbursed.
- Provide and keep copies of all of their documents until March 31, 2028; and
- Ensure that all products are purchased in Canada. Online purchases are only eligible if ordered from an online distributor in Canada.
Once homeowners have completed their retrofits, they can seek reimbursement for the following:
Up to $3,000 total for eligible retrofit implementation from SaveEnergyNB.
EnerGuide evaluations completed before December 1, 2020, are not eligible for reimbursement.
All mechanical and electrical systems, except thermostats, must be installed by a licensed and trained professional.
